Award-winning writer and director of various features, commercials, music videos and short films; three of his commercials aired in the 2010, 2012 and 2013 Super Bowls as part of the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl competition. “Sling Baby” (creative team) won $1M; 2013’s “Fashionista Daddy” (producer/co-director) won the contest and was voted one of Nielsen’s most-remembered ad spots of the game and aired throughout 2013 and 2014. His first film as a writer/director, THE LEAST OF THESE, an independent feature starring Isaiah Washington (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and executive-produced by Ralph Winter (“X-Men,” “Wolverine”), was released by Universal on DVD in 2011. “The Perfect Summer,” which Scoggins co-wrote, aired on UP throughout 2013 and was released on DVD in 2015; REDLINE, which Scoggins produced, was released on DVD in 2013. Several of his award-winning short films have been released on DVD by Lionsgate as part of the “Crave” anthology. Scoggins has written and developed projects for producers including John Rickard (HORRIBLE BOSSES), Andrew Panay (WEDDING CRASHERS), and Scott Bernstein (STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON).
In addition to his work in film and television, Scoggins serves as an adjunct professor of film at several universities in Los Angeles, teaching regularly on various aspects of the film industry, including the intersection of faith and film; he serves on the boards of several non-profits; and serves as a leader in the Christian community in Hollywood. A graduate of Wesleyan University, dedicated husband and father, he makes his home in the mountains of Los Angeles, where his proudest accomplishments remain his three daughters, co-productions with his wife of fifteen years and counting, Katheryne.
